Rod Bergstedt was born and raised in Fort Wayne. Graduated from South Side High School and Purdue University as an electrical engineer. He worked at Magnavox and the various companies that purchased that company for 42 years, retiring finally from Raytheon in 2001. He worked in medical research, on sonobuoys, Program Management and in the Office of Research and Development during those years.
Rod was involved in starting a bank and serving on its board for several years. He also served as president of the homeowners association in Forest Canyon in Fort Wayne, where he and Jo presently live.
Rod and Jonell were married in 1967 and have two boys, Greg and Jeff, who both graduated from Purdue University. They have four grandchildren–two grandsons who live in Camel, Indiana, and two granddaughters who live in Centreville, Virginia.
Rod and Jo bought a cottage at Pretty Lake in 2001 They spent nine months remodeling and enjoying lake living. They are now considering making Pretty Lake their full-time home.
During the last two years Rod has become a member of the Pretty Lake Conservation Club Board. His projects have been working with the Department of Natural Resources to control the Eurasian Milfoil that has invaded our lake and chairing the Nelson Chicken Sale on the 4th of July as a money making activity for the Club.
